Breaking Dawn Cover - Check Mate!

The Breaking Dawn cover was released, as everyone knows, and now the challenge is to figure out what it means, if anything. The covers of Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse ended up not having any actual significant meaning to the books...but there's always some sort of story behind it. Commence theorizing!
So the image is of two chess pieces. A big white king/queen is in front and then in back you see a little red pawn. I can just sense some sort of major metaphor in there.
To be vague, I think it means that the story is going to be like a chess game. There is going to be some using going on - hence the pawn? - and there's going to be a lot of thinking and slick moves involved. Things are going to get challenging.
Lame theory, I know. What the heck does that all mean? Stories are always like that. Well I'd like to see you figure it out!
And maybe Stephenie Meyer or the publishers just had the urge to stick some chess pieces on there because it was mentioned in one of the books how intense Edward and Alice's game of chess was. Who knows?
But let the guessing continue.

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, Midnight Sun, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, vampire, Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, Twilight Movie, Stephenie Meyer, Edward's point of view
